Building Announcement

Another Chapter

Sunday we announced that we have officially closed on a new facility meeting space for Providence Community Church. As we prepared for the announcement I had the opportunity to scroll through some pictures that record the last 3.5 years of our lives together as a church. It is humbling to see how God has used a group of ordinary disciples to accomplish extraordinary things for the sake of his glorious name.

Standing on the stage Sunday next to my fellow elders gave me a sense of gratitude that I won’t soon forget. Even as I consider it now, I can resonate with David’s thoughts when he said, “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” Psalm 8:4

What a small cog in the great wheel of God’s design I am, and yet how merciful and thoughtful he is concerning my future. And what is true for me is true for all who are His!

Coming down from the joy of announcing a huge step in Providence’s journey, my wife graciously reminded me of something. I was very general concerning the building itself. Prayerfully, this blog will help answer some questions.

Where is the facility exactly?

Our new facility will be located on the corner of 1960 and Timber Forest Dr. in Lake Country Plaza. We are roughly behind Coach’s Bar & Grill.

What was previous use of the facility?

Prior to our usage of the building it was utilized as a Halloween City, The Goodie Bag, and other knickknack stores. In its origin the facility was a Brookshire Brothers grocery store. Since then it has been parceled. We will be renovating roughly 3/4 of the original grocery store.

How big is the space?

The space is roughly 11,700 square feet.

When will we officially move in?

Our first official month looks to be tentatively May 2016. We have a lot of fundraising and build out to accomplish before then, as the building itself must be retrofitted for church purposes.

What is the next step?

Currently we are finalizing floor plan designs to be approved by our landlord. After this, we will roll out the plans to the congregation and begin fundraising. Our teams are currently working on fundraising ideas and creative ways to get the facility to a functional state for our first official gathering.

How can I help?

There are a few things that you can do to help us as we begin this journey.

Pray - We started Providence by praying for God’s help and guidance and we will never take another step without continually doing the same. Pray that God would provide the means and the labor to help us prepare this facility to aid us in our efforts to make the gospel un-ignorable in our community.

Give - We do not have final numbers as to how much the build out will cost, but we know that fundraising is inevitable. As the year draws to a close, we know that many are looking to making tax-deductible donations to worthy causes. There is NO WORTHIER CAUSE than the expansion of the gospel message. Please consider giving toward this cause online HERE, or text (281-825-5585 with the word BUILDING), or mail a check to 6942 FM 1960 E Humble, Texas 77346 #233.

Serve - Members, we will have ample opportunity for able-bodied servants to get involved. Keep your ear low to the ground and check THE CITY frequently for updates.

Blessings this Christmas Season!
